Quality Standard
Brazil sets a global benchmark with the first-ever technical quality standard for aluminum beverage cans. Currently available in Portuguese.
In collaboration with Abralatas and ABNT, Brazil’s aluminum can industry launched the groundbreaking NBR 17194 standard, published on November 4, 2024. This certification defines strict guidelines for aluminum beverage cans, covering visual, dimensional, and functional properties, along with requirements for logistics, handling, storage, and beverage filling.
The NBR 17194 standard, a voluntary guideline developed by ABNT, reflects the industry’s dedication to quality and best practices, offering enhanced safety for producers and consumers. It positions Brazil as a global leader in beverage packaging standards. This is a 4-Part Standard, including:
• Part 1: Terminology
• Part 2: Dimensional, Visual, and Functional Characteristics of the Can Body
• Part 3: Dimensional, Visual, and Functional Characteristics of the Can End
• Part 4: Packaging, Logistics, Receiving, Handling, Filling, Sealing, and Storage - Procedures
