Dome Forming Process in the Bodymaker
This video covers the Dome Forming Process inside the Bodymaker, focusing on the steps involved in shaping the bottom of the can.
The process begins with the formation of the outer crown, followed by the shaping of the center dome. These steps create the distinctive base structure of the can.
As the ram retracts, the domer releases air, leaving an imprint for Bodymaker identification. This mark helps identify which Bodymaker the can was by.
Following this, the ram and punch retract through the stripper, which removes the can from the punch. Compressed air is blown through the ram to assist in the removal process, ensuring that the can does not collapse as it is released from the punch.
Finally, the can is conveyed to the trimmer, where it will undergo further refinement.
