Blank and Draw Process in the Cupper
This video explains the Blank and Draw process in the Cupper, which transforms coil stock into aluminum cups.
The coil stock is first cut into blanks and then formed into cups through a process called drawing. This entire sequence is referred to as the Blank and Draw process.
During this operation, the draw pad, blank, and draw die clamp the coil stock securely in place. The metal is sheared and shaped into blanks, a step known as blanking.
Compressed air flows through the die center assembly to aid in the process, while cup markers imprint the coil stock with station identification, ensuring that each cup can be traced back to its specific production station.
Once the cups are formed, the remaining coil stock is sheared into strips and recycled for further use.
