Cupper Overview

This video explains the Cupper, the first major machine in the can manufacturing process. The Cupper is responsible for converting aluminum coil into cups, which will later be formed into cans.

The Cupper Process

Coil Feeding with Indexing Motion
Aluminum coil is fed into the Cupper using an indexing motion, ensuring precise positioning for each cycle.

Blank & Draw Process
With each stroke, the Cupper performs a Blank & Draw process, which consists of two main steps:
  1. Blanking: Cutting circular blanks from the aluminum coil.
  2. Drawing: Forming each blank into a shallow cup.

Die Set Forms Multiple Cups Per Stroke
The Die Set contains tooling that allows multiple cups to be formed simultaneously with each stroke, increasing production efficiency.

Cup Ejection onto an Air Table
After forming, the cups are ejected onto an air table, where they are conveyed to the next stage of production.
