Top Frame Application and Pallet Strapping Process

This video demonstrates how the Top Frame is applied to a finished pallet of cans, followed by the strapping process, which secures (or "unitizes") the pallet.

Once the pallet of cans is complete, it lowers down the Main Hoist Well onto the chain conveyor. The pallet moves slightly forward, and the top frame is applied. The Top Frame adds rigidity to the pallet, allowing strapping to be applied without damaging the cans.

After the top frame is applied, the pallet continues on the chain conveyor until it reaches the Strapper, which applies 2-3 straps around the pallet of cans. The pallet then typically moves through a 90-degree turn to a second strapper, which applies another 2-3 straps in the opposite direction.

Once the top frame is applied and both sides of the pallet are strapped, the pallet is secured, or "unitized," and ready for shipment.
