Trimmer Overview
Cans exit the Bodymaker with a jagged top edge, which must be removed before further processing. The Trimmer performs this operation with high precision, ensuring consistent can height and a clean cut.
The Trimming Process
1) Entry via Gravity Conveying
Cans enter the Trimmer through a gravity-fed conveyor, ensuring a continuous flow into the machine.
2) Vacuum Holding for Stability
Once inside, vacuum systems hold each can by the dome, keeping them securely in place for during the cutting process.
3) Trimmer Knives Cut the Edge
Trimmer Knives shear off the jagged edge, creating a clean and uniform can top. This step is essential for proper necking in later stages.
4) Trim Rings Removed via Vacuum Chute
The removed Trim Rings are extracted through a vacuum chute, directing them into the scrap system for recycling.
5) Trimmed Cans Exit via Gravity Conveying
After trimming, cans leave the machine through another gravity conveyor.
