Wet Can Conveying Overview
This video explains the conveying process that connects the Trimmer to the Washer in can manufacturing plants. The process involves multiple stages of conveying to ensure a smooth and consistent flow of cans into the Washer.
Gravity Conveying from the Trimmer
After cans leave the Trimmer, they are transported using gravity conveying. Depending on the can plant’s layout, this conveying system may move cans either to the lower level (in the Bodymaker trench) or to the upper level (as shown in this video).
Moving Cans to the Upper Level
For plants with wet can conveying on the upper level:
- Vacuum or Gripper Elevators lift cans from the gravity discharge to the upper level.
- Cans from multiple Bodymaker/Trimmer machines gather in mass on the upper level, creating a continuous flow of cans.
Returning Cans to the Lower Level
Once cans have gathered in mass on the upper level, they move back down to the lower level using either a vacuum lowerator or another method (as shown in this video).
Accumulation Before Entering the Washer
On the lower level, the conveyor speeds slow down to allow cans to accumulate before entering the Washer. This accumulation step is crucial for creating a full, tight can pack that will enter the Washer smoothly.
Feeding Cans into the Washer
Once the cans have accumulated, mechanical conveying feeds them into the Washer, ensuring a steady and properly packed flow through the washing process.
