Direct Laser Engraving - The HELL PremiumSetter D2000 is an innovative system for direct laser engraving of elastomer plates (on polyester or metal substrates) used in dry offset, letterpress, flexographic printing, and coating plates, as well as for imaging digital photopolymer printing plates (LAMS). Higher Productivity The PremiumSetter provides high-speed, standardized printing form production for various formats. It features vacuum drum and magnetic drum options and integrates with HELL Gravure software for efficient workflow and optimal quality. Printing Quality Equipped with high-performance fibre lasers and a 10µ laser spot size, the PremiumSetter delivers high-resolution engraving. It calculates print element height and shoulder profile for halftone images, line art, and text, ensuring superior screen rulings and gradients with minimal dot gain. Sustainability and Durability The PremiumSetter supports environmentally friendly production with direct laser engraving, requiring no solvents and avoiding hazardous waste. Elastomer plates have a long service life, reducing the need for frequent plate replacement.

DLE Technology

PremiumSetter DLE (Direct Laser Engraving) technology harnesses high-resolution lasers paired with newly developed elastomers to produce high-precision three-dimensional print reliefs. The technology’s unique digital controllability and high reproducibility of printing parameters are key to its precision. The two-stage process ensures rapid availability of printing forms. High Power Laser The PremiumSetter employs 600 W high-performance fiber lasers for single-pass removal of up to 800 μm relief, achieving depths of up to 3 mm, with 5080 dpi resolution and adjustable screen rulings. 3D Engraving It converts 1-bit TIFF to 3D 8-bit TIFF engraving data on the fly, delivering precise variable undercuts, steps, and shoulder angles at high resolution. Latest Generation Elastomers Elastomers used in the PremiumSetter are resistant to swelling, making them ideal for both water-based and aggressive inks. Users can choose between printing plates on polyester or metal substrates, as well as sleeves.

DLE into Elastomer

Dry offset printing is ideal for decorating open containers, metal drink and aerosol cans, as well as polymer cups and tubes. Elastomer offers numerous advantages in this process, including coordinated surface tension between the elastomer and blanket, resulting in excellent ink transfer. The elastomer's low tendency to swell extends the service life of the printing form. The ultra-fine laser spot of the fiber laser enables engraving with previously unattainable resolution. The precise use of infinitely variable undercuts significantly reduces dot gain. Additionally, elastomer printing forms for IDF machines do not require a separate sandwich structure. The PremiumSetter is also far more productive than conventional direct engraving systems.
