Material and Tooling Innovation

At Hyperion Research and Development, our ongoing material development programs focus on delivering superior products of consistent quality in a variety of grades tailored to specific applications for can makers. A prime example is the development of the application-specific carbide grade DZ18. This low-density carbide grade was created by our experts to drastically reduce the time required for bodymaker swings by up to 98%, reducing the process from 12 hours to as little as 15 minutes—assuming the punch and other bodymaker tools are optimally designed.
