Inside the Conversion Press: How Shells Become Easy-Open Ends

This video provides an overview of the End Making Process inside a Conversion Press, highlighting how tab stock is transformed into tabs and shells are converted into finished can ends.

Step-by-Step End Making Process

  1. Shell and Tab Preparation
    • Shells are stacked and loaded into the index belt, where they are positioned for processing.
    • Tab stock is fed into the press and cut through a series of dies, forming individual tabs.
  2. Shell Conversion and Tab Attachment
    • The shells are shaped into ends, preparing them for final assembly.
    • The press then rivets each tab onto the corresponding shell, creating a fully functional Easy-Open End.
  3. Final Processing and Waste Removal
    • Completed ends exit the machine, ready for packaging and shipment.
    • Any remaining tab stock is cut and removed by a vacuum system, ensuring clean operation.
