Can Feeding Process into the Necker: Key Assemblies and Lubrication
This video, created in collaboration with Belvac, demonstrates the process of cans feeding into the Necker, highlighting two major assemblies essential to this stage of can manufacturing.
The first major assembly is the Transfer Turrets, which consist of a set of three starwheels. These starwheels work together to load the can into the first necking station. Using vacuum to secure the cans, the starwheels transfer them smoothly from one wheel to the next, ensuring a consistent feed into the Necker.
Before entering the first necking station, the cans pass through the Can Neck Lubricator. This device applies a layer of food-grade mineral oil or wax to the neck of each can. This lubrication is crucial, as it enhances the metal forming process that will occur in the necking stations by reducing friction and promoting smoother shaping of the can’s neck.
