Importance of Bottom Rim Coat in Can Manufacturing
This video, made in collaboration with Luxtronic, explains the purpose and importance of Bottom Rim Coat in the can manufacturing process.
Bottom Rim Coat, though invisible to the naked eye, is applied to the bottom rim of the can. Its primary function is to help cans slide more easily on their domes, which becomes crucial during the filling process at the Filler, where cans are filled with beverages and sealed with lids.
Once cans are filled, they become significantly heavier. Without a proper Bottom Rim Coat, the cans may tip over, which can cause serious problems like jams or backups in the production line. Even a single improperly coated can has the potential to disrupt the process.
This video also showcases the UVBC inspection system by Luxtronic, which ensures proper application of the Bottom Rim Coat. For more information, Luxtronic can be contacted at Luxtronic.ai.
