Zero Liquid Discharge
Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems are highly sophisticated plants designed for the purification and total reuse of water from metal treatment processes. These systems utilize a combination of advanced technologies, including chemical-physical purification, sand and charcoal filtration, ultrafiltration (UF), reverse osmosis (RO), and evaporation. The result is a sustainable solution that ensures complete water recycling and minimizes waste discharge.

PUR-ALL
PUR-ALL Chemical Physical Treatment is a patented technology developed by CIE for specific water treatment plants aimed at the removal of fluorides and sulphates. The PUR-ALL process is designed to reduce these elements, along with aluminum, from wastewater to produce clean, reusable water. This innovative system provides an effective solution for ensuring water purity and sustainability in metal treatment processes.
D.I. Units
D.I. Units are purification plants using Ion Exchange (I.X.) technology to produce demineralized water with low salt concentration and conductivity, suitable for process use or recycling rinse waters. CIE systems feature a unique regeneration process that optimizes the use of HCl and NaOH, significantly reducing waste volumes by up to 50% compared to conventional reverse osmosis systems. This makes the CIE D.I. Units highly efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for water treatment.
Chemguard
Instrument Control System designed for monitoring and managing metal finishing baths, including processes such as degreasing, pickling, chromating, and phosphating. CHEMGUARD automatically measures bath concentrations and provides essential data such as acidity, alkalinity, and pH. Based on this data, the system adjusts the dosing rate of chemicals, ensuring that each bath maintains its pre-set values, optimizing chemical usage and improving process consistency.
Rinseguard
The Zero Liquid Discharge system monitors and controls contaminant concentrations in rinses from processes such as degreasing, pickling, chromating, and phosphating, using conductivity and pH measurements. The system also introduces fresh water automatically as needed. The RINSEGUARD unit, specifically designed for metal finishing lines, evaluates and supplies only the necessary amount of water to ensure optimal rinsing. By using the CIE RINSEGUARD system, water consumption—and associated costs—can be reduced by up to 30%, preventing excessive rinse water flow rates.
Reverse Osmosis
The Unit for separation of soluble salts from water is designed to achieve low conductivity water by using reverse osmosis (RO) technology in membrane wastewater treatment plants. This process facilitates the transfer of molecules from one saline solution to another, effectively removing unwanted substances. As a result, the Reverse Osmosis treatment plants produce purified water, free from soluble salts and other contaminants, making it ideal for reuse in various processes.
Mechanical Filtration
Filtration is a unitary operation designed to remove solid particles from a liquid. It is particularly useful when solids take a long time to settle or when dealing with high flow rates. The time required for sedimentation depends on the velocity at which the particles settle, which in turn is determined by the difference in density between the sludge and the liquid, following Stoke's law. When flow rates are high or the sludge has a very low density, the sedimentation time can become significantly prolonged, making filtration an essential process for efficient separation.
Water Evaporation Plants
Spent solution concentrators operate through water evaporation, where the solution is heated, causing the water to evaporate. The vapor is then condensed and collected as distillate, leaving behind concentrated waste. This process effectively reduces the volume of the spent solution while recovering clean water for reuse, making it an efficient method for managing waste and minimizing environmental impact.
Service & Parts
After more than thirty years since its foundation, C.I.E. srl has designed and installed over a hundred industrial water treatment and pre-treatment plants in Italy, Europe, and many other parts of the world. To support these installations, the C.I.E Service was established, providing comprehensive after-sales assistance. This includes regular and extraordinary maintenance, supply of spare parts, and performing necessary maintenance work on the installed systems, ensuring long-term efficiency and reliability for our customers.
